Second Step is a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum that has been adopted by the Capistrano Unified School District. School Counselors at the Elementary and Middle School levels are conducting lessons within your child's classroom six times a year. Second Step addresses concepts and strategies related to foundation skills for learning, empathy, emotion management, and problem solving.

Estimadas familias de Las Palmas,
Mi nombre es Bobbie Jaramillo y me siento honrada de ser el Consejero Escolar aquí en la Escuela Primaria Las Palmas. Como consejera de CUSD, estoy comprometida con el crecimiento académico, social / emocional y profesional de todos mis estudiantes. A través de este compromiso, proporciono una variedad de servicios a estudiantes, padres y familias para apoyar ese crecimiento. Estos servicios incluyen:
 
  • Lecciones de segundo paso (aprendizaje social y emocional)
  • Consulta
  • Mediación de conflictos
  • Referencias y recursos.
  • Asesoramiento individual a corto plazo.
  • Asesoramiento grupal a corto plazo.
 
Si un estudiante es referido para recibir asesoramiento, enviaré a casa un permiso para recibir asesoramiento individual o grupal. Mi objetivo es trabajar en estrecha colaboración con los padres cuyo hijo recibe apoyo de asesoramiento y al mismo tiempo respetar la confidencialidad del estudiante. No dude en comunicarse si tiene alguna pregunta sobre los servicios de asesoramiento.
 
CONFIDENCIALIDAD
Las conversaciones entre el estudiante y el consejero son confidenciales a menos que el estudiante comparta que son peligrosas, que otra persona está en peligro o que está en peligro de dañar a otra persona.
 
 

INTRODUCTION

Dear Las Palmas Families,
My name is Bobbie Jaramillo and I am honored to be the School Counselor here at Las Palmas Elementary School. As a CUSD counselor, I am committed to the academic, social/emotional, and career growth of all of my students. Through this commitment, I provide a variety of services to students, parents, and families in order to support that growth. These services include:
 
  • Second-Step Lessons (Social Emotional Learning)
  • Consultation
  • Conflict mediation
  • Referrals and resources 
  • Short-term Individual counseling
  • Short-term Group counseling
 
If a student is referred for counseling, I will send home a permission slip for either individual or group counseling. I aim to work closely with parents whose child is receiving counseling support while also respecting a student’s confidentiality. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about counseling services.
 
CONFIDENTIALITY
Conversations between the student and the counselor are confidential unless the student shares that they are a danger, someone else is in danger or they are in danger of harming someone else.

School Counselors will advocate, collaborate and facilitate actions that promote a positive school climate, provide an opportunity for all students to access their education and achieve personal and academic success to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
