SCHOOL PROFILE

Las Palmas Elementary School, located in San Clemente, California, is a California Distinguished School and serves as a nationally recognized model for two-way language immersion. This beach-side school serves 740 students in grades K-5 and offers a thriving school community focused on raising children who are multi cultural and multi-linguistic. Las Palmas offers a Two Way Spanish Immersion Program that helps children become bilingual and biliterate by fifth grade.  The Las Palmas staff consists of 29 certificated and 13 classified employees.

The instructional programs at Las Palmas are firmly aligned with the Common Core Standards. The overall goal for all students is achievement at or above grade level in all areas of the curriculum. Teachers, students and parents work towards academic goals through intensive, quality instruction offered by highly qualified and fully credentialed teachers.
It is a long term commitment that parents make when they choose Las Palmas during open enrollment. Las Palmas operates as an alternative school under a waiver granted by the State Superintendent of Instruction. The families have the ability to continue in a Two Way Immersion Program when they leave Las Palmas since they matriculate into Bernice Ayer Middle School, which also provides two-way language immersion services to Las Palmas students after they leave the elementary setting.
