SCHOOL PROFILE

Las Palmas Elementary School, located in San Clemente, California, is a California Distinguished School and serves as a nationally recognized model for two-way language immersion. This beach-side school serves 780 students in grades PK-5 and offers a thriving school community focused on raising children who are multi cultural and multi-linguistic. Las Palmas offers a Two Way Spanish Immersion Program that helps children become bilingual and biliterate by fifth grade.  The Las Palmas staff consists of 75 certificated and  classified employees.
 
The instructional programs at Las Palmas are firmly aligned with the Common Core Standards. The overall goal for all students is achievement at or above grade level in all areas of the curriculum in both English and Spanish. Teachers, students and parents work towards academic goals through intensive, quality instruction offered by highly qualified and fully credentialed teachers.
 
When parents choose Las Palmas during Language Immersion open enrollment, they are making a long-term commitment. Las Palmas serves a diverse school community dedicated to our language immersion goals: bilingualism and biliteracy, academic achievement, and socio-cultural competency. Students may continue their langauge development at the secondary level  at Bernice Ayer Middle School and San Clemente High School.
