Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework used in schools to promote and reinforce positive behavior. It is a proactive approach that aims to improve school safety, enhance student behavior, and create a positive school culture. Here's an overview of PBIS:
- Preventive Approach: PBIS focuses on preventing behavior problems before they occur by establishing clear expectations and teaching students the appropriate behaviors.
- Tiered Support:
Tier 1: Universal interventions that support all students. This includes teaching school-wide expectations, routines, and procedures, as well as recognizing and rewarding positive behavior.
Tier 2: Targeted interventions for students who need additional support beyond the universal interventions. This may include small group activities or specific behavioral strategies.
Tier 3: Intensive, individualized interventions for students with significant behavioral challenges. This often involves personalized support plans and close monitoring.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Schools implementing PBIS use data to identify students' needs, monitor progress, and make informed decisions about interventions and supports.
- Consistent Positive Reinforcement: Positive behaviors are consistently acknowledged and reinforced, creating a positive school environment. We provide praise, rewards, and other incentives for demonstrating appropriate behavior through our Piper Tickets, Classroom Treasure Chests, and School-wide Raffles.
